SUMMARY:BYU Organ Workshop
DESCRIPTION:UVAGO members are invited to the following workshop events at the Harris Fine Arts Center next week. \n\nTues\, Aug 7\, Keynote Address by Brian Matthias\, 9-10 am\nTues\, Aug 7\, Instructors’ Recital\, 7:30 pm\nThurs\, Aug 9\, Hymn Sing\, 7:30 pm\n\nTues\, Wed\, Thurs\, Sheet Music Sales & Displays\, 11:50-1:30 \nOrgan First!\n\nOur very first organ class for youngsters ages 8-12 \nDetails \n\nTaught on the BYU campus by BYU faculty and staff\n12 weeks of classes for a total of 24 sessions\nClass is held every Tuesday and Thursday from 5:00-6:00pm between September 11 to December 11 except during Thanksgiving week (Nov 19-23) and Fall Break (Oct 18)\nChildren will learn to read music and play the organ even the pedals!\nField trips included!\nOnly twelve students may enroll. Classes are held in the BYU Organ Lab (E354 HFAC)\nWe will provide all books\, materials\, and loaner organ shoes.\n\nRequirements \n\nChildren must be at least 8 years old before the program begins and be able to read at or above grade level. Students must be no older than 6th grade during the 2018-2019 school year.\n90% or better attendance is required.\nChildren will be asked to practice on the piano for two 30-minute sessions outside of class each week\, supervised by a parent.\nDesigned for beginning students with less than 1 year of music training.\nMandatory orientation meeting for students and parents held Thursday\, September 6 at 5:00pm in the BYU Organ Lab.\nTuition: $151 per semester\, plus a $59 materials fee.\nFirst come\, first served.
