DESCRIPTION:Organ Music from Notre Dame Cathedral\nEdgemont Stake Center\nOctober 22\, 2023   7 p.m. \nOn Sunday\, October 22\, at 7 p.m.\, at the Edgemont Stake Center\, 303 W 3700 N\, Provo (NOT Edgemont South or Edgemont North Stake)\, James Welch will present a concert of organ music from Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris.  Dr. Welch studied in Paris and has performed twice in concert at Notre Dame\, most recently in 2015\, before the disastrous fire at the cathedral. He will be performing the magnificent Symphony No. 2 of Louis Vierne\, the renowned blind organist who was organist at Notre Dame from 1900 until his death in 1937.  Tabernacle organist Alexander Schreiner studied with Vierne in 1925\, and James Welch studied with Schreiner in the 1970’s\, giving him a direct tutorial link to Vierne. \nAlso on the program will be movements from an organ symphony composed in 2009 by Utah composer Rulon Christiansen in the style of a Vierne symphony. This will be a rare opportunity to experience this timeless music\, right here in Provo. All are welcome at this concert.
