Second Church of Christ, Scientist, Salt Lake City is seeking an experienced and dependable Organist for a regular, permanent position providing music for our Sunday services and Wednesday evening testimony meetings.

The church has a Schantz pipe organ and is seeking an organist who enjoys contributing thoughtfully and professionally to Christian worship.

Regular Schedule

Sunday Service – Arrival 9:45-10:00 a.m. Service ends at 11:30 a.m
Responsibilities include:

Providing appropriate prelude, offertory, and postlude music
Accompanying congregational hymns
Accompanying a professional vocal soloist
Providing other organ music appropriate to the order of service

Wednesday Testimony Meeting – Arrival 6:45 – 7:00 p.m. Service ends at 8:30 p.m.
Responsibilities include:

Providing appropriate prelude and postlude music
Accompanying congregational hymns and other music included in the service

The successful applicant should have strong organ and keyboard skills, experience accompanying vocalists, and the ability to select music appropriate for a Christian worship service. Reliability and availability for both the Sunday and Wednesday services are important.

ORGANIST POSITION #2

Hello, my name is Kathy Fisher and I am currently Director of Music at Cottonwood Presbyterian Church in Murray. I am retiring at the end of this year, and the church has requested my help in getting the word out to find my replacement.

My position has included playing the organ and piano for 10:00am Sunday services as well as special services (Christmas Eve, Holy Week, etc), directing and accompanying the adult choir, and directing the handbell choir. I also oversee maintenance of the piano(Steinway grand) and organ (new Rodgers 3-manual electronic), oversee the praise band (play once per month), and children’s choir (sing a few times per year). Weddings (rare) and funerals are an additional source of income.

The pastor is very supportive, the congregation is kind and caring. I have just loved it there for the past eight years. I am stepping down due to family circumstances.
