- This event is designed to introduce youth to the pipe organ in a relaxed and safe environment and give them a close-up look at how an organ works. Our pipe organ guides will be BYU organ students.
- Youth who would like to play the organ briefly are encouraged to bring music with them.
- Pizza will follow the demonstration of the organ.
- All minors must be accompanied by an adult for the entirety of the activity.
Things we’ll do…
- Get a close-up look at the organ.
- Listen to the BYU organ student presenters as they describe how the organ works, the different sounds it can make and how they are produced, how the organ was made and who made it, etc.
- Look inside the pipe chamber to find out what you don’t see when you’re listening to it on the outside.- Get a chance to play this marvelous organ!
- Eat pizza at the end of the activity.
Things to find out…
- How do organists know which stops to use?
- What are all those knobs and buttons?
- Do you have to tune a pipe organ?
- How do organists play with their feet?
And more! This is a great opportunity for the youth! Reach out and invite young musicians that you know. The deadline to sign up using the RSVP link is Thursday, February 5th.
